Learning Outcome Two: Be able to devise sound assets for an interactive media product

The Brief:

I received a negotiated brief for this project (This is when two parties have different ideas from each other but they both have to come to a decision by compromising and making sure that both the parties are happy by the decision)

I got a  brief  to find an existing television  advert from YouTube, download it and completely redo the sound for it. The sound must include:

  • sound effects
  • soundtrack
  • narrator
  • All sounds must be made or downloaded from a copyright free site.

Brainstorming and finalizing my idea for the sound I want to make for my chosen advert:

For my interactive media product I have chosen the video I am going to use and I am now generating ideas, my advert is the ‘London Olympics 2012 official advert (full length)’, this is advert is an animated advert that shows a number of athletes training and getting ready for the 2012 Olympic games in London.

Planning and sound material used for remaking the sound for my chosen TV advert:

Sound in interactive media, planning.

Made a folder on Music drive called Olympics 2013, to store all the audio I need, like the narration, instruments and SFX etc. within this folder I separated all the components I need into spate folders.

Sound Effects

Narration

Legal and ethical considerations:
copyright is the main legal issue I must look out for.  This shouldn't be too much of a problem though, because the soundtrack for the TV advert was made by myself using reason with Cubase, this also included me doing my own narration, and all my SFX  sounds were downloaded from a COPYRIGHT FREE website called http://www.freesound.org/

I did not face any ethical issues with this advert , as its doesn't contain any offensive or explicit content and is suitable viewing for everyone at any age, gender, ethnicity etc.

My target audience:
Due to my advert, promoting the Olympics (which is a huge major event that everyone worldwide is aware of and tunes into) my target audience is very widespread:

Gender: Both
Age: 14 – 50+
Ethnicity: All

 Social Class: A- F
